ABOUT LITTLE RIBBON

Little Ribbon is a small and independent brand; each piece is designed in-house and handmade with a lot of love and dedication in Chile, South America. By designer Consuelo Azócar (Elo), a member of the EGL community since the early 2000s. Each collection is focused on designs with classic, baroque, and a little sweet accents, inspired by Lolita Fashion. Little Ribbon offers more than one size per model (in necklaces, bracelets, and rings) for a better fit and comfort. Furthermore, various color options are offered to make each jewelry piece versatile with your coordinates.

Lolita fashion is recognized by its meticulousness, quality, and design through clothing and accessories. Accessories are essential in an outfit because they add personality and attitude. But unfortunately, Lolita jewelry is often made of low-quality materials, such as brass. A material that can quickly lose its color and other properties, typically derived from an alloy of zinc, copper, lead, or nickel. Lead and nickel are both cumulative toxins, which means that even small amounts over time can cause health issues. The use of a high percentage of nickel in jewelry has been linked to millions of allergic reactions, leading to rashes and blisters on the skin. Personally, I suffer from dermatitis because my skin is very sensitive and reactive, I can only use certain cosmetics and even detergent for my clothes. So, in this context, I know firsthand the consequences of wearing jewelry made of brass and non-hypoallergenic alloys.

As a result, Little Ribbon’s fine jewels is crafted with a variety of hypoallergenic, high-quality, long-lasting materials and components. Including sterling silver, gold vermeil, stainless steel, pewter, rhodium-plated, glass, reconstituted beads and semi-precious stones.

For the creation of each collection Little Ribbon adheres to the slow fashion concept:

Our semi-fine jewelry is based on its quality and durability.

The number of semi-fine jewelry pieces to be produced is based on demand, avoiding overproduction.

The production process minimizes waste by using the appropriate amount of material.

It is proposed to incorporate the best available sustainable options into some processes, such as the usage of reusable or biodegradable materials.

ABOUT DESIGNER'S BRAND

My first encounter with Lolita Fashion was in 2003, when I was ten years old, I still remember when I discovered some scanned pages from Kera and Gothic&Lolita Bilble magazines. Lolita was love at first sight; I’d never been so interested in fashion. Over the years, I was able to purchase clothes and finally be able to wear them on exceptional occasions, and since I was a teenager, I’ve always made my own jewelry and hair accessories.

When I started buying clothes from Japan for myself, I also started selling them to other Lolitas in my country. To provide the same opportunity to purchase clothes as I did and to pay for personal needs while I was studying at the university. These sales, combined with my personal experience as a member of the community, gave me an approximate idea of what was needed within the style.

I studied industrial design at a university in my own country (one of Chile’s traditional universities), and after six years I graduated as a designer. Broadly speaking, my profession focuses providing solutions by way of products and services, prioritizing each person’s needs through the proper use of materials and new experiences.

Lolita has always been so present in my life over the years that I wanted to combine this passion with my career and my love of making jewelry. As a result, Little Ribbon was born as a personal-life project. Using my professional experience, I have created functional and aesthetic jewelry pieces made of durable materials.
