ABOUT LITTLE RIBBON

Little Ribbon is a small and independent brand; each piece is designed in-house and handmade with a lot of love and dedication in Chile, South America. By designer Consuelo Azócar (Elo), a member of the Chilean EGL community. Each collection is focused on designs with classic, baroque, and a little sweet accents, inspired by Lolita Fashion. Little Ribbon offers more than one size per model (in necklaces, bracelets, and rings) for a better fit and comfort. Furthermore, various color options are offered to make each jewelry piece versatile with your coordinates.

Lolita fashion is recognized by its meticulousness, quality, and design through clothing and accessories. Accessories are essential in an outfit because they add personality and attitude. But unfortunately, Lolita jewelry is often made of low-quality materials, such as brass. A material that can quickly lose its color and other properties, typically derived from an alloy of zinc, copper, lead, or nickel. Lead and nickel are both cumulative toxins, which means that even small amounts over time can cause health issues. The use of a high percentage of nickel in jewelry has been linked to millions of allergic reactions, leading to rashes and blisters on the skin. Personally, I suffer from dermatitis because my skin is very sensitive and reactive, I can only use certain cosmetics and even detergent for my clothes. So, in this context, I know firsthand the consequences of wearing jewelry made of brass and non-hypoallergenic alloys.

As a result, Little Ribbon’s quality jewels are crafted with a variety of hypoallergenic, high-quality, long-lasting materials and components. Including sterling silver, gold vermeil, stainless steel, pewter, rhodium-plated, glass, reconstituted beads, and semi-precious stones.

ABOUT DESIGNER'S BRAND

My first encounter with Lolita fashion was in 2002~2003. In those years I was a big fan of manga and anime; browsing the internet for some reason, I came across a few scanned pages from Kera and Gothic & Lolita Bible magazines. Lolita was love at first sight; from that moment I also wanted to wear those beautiful clothes. I was about 13 years old when I first dared to wear the style. I still remember that this first dress was commissioned, and due to my inexperience and lack of knowledge, it was poorly constructed with low-quality materials.

Over the years, I learned more about the style and I was able to purchase a few pieces that I could finally wear on exceptional occasions. When I started buying clothes from Japan for myself, I also started selling them to other Lolitas in my country. This is how Ribbon x Ribbon started as a store, to provide the same opportunity to purchase clothes as I did, and to pay for personal needs. During those years, I also became interested in designing costume jewelry and accessories in general. This was the time when I created the most accessories to complement my outfits and sell in my shop.

I studied industrial design at a university in my own country (one of Chile’s traditional universities), and after six years I graduated as a designer. Broadly speaking, my profession focuses on providing solutions by way of products and services, prioritizing each person’s needs through the proper use of materials and new experiences. A couple of teachers constantly pushed me to do Lolita-related projects, but I never dared because I considered this a hobby, but after graduating I changed that limiting thought. Lolita has always been so present in my life, that I wanted to combine this passion with my career and my love of making jewelry. As a result, Little Ribbon was born as a personal-life project.

When I wear Lolita or Otome Fashion, I feel very comfortable and free to be myself. Lolita has also given me a lot of joy and formed many wonderful friendships. If the style appeals to you, I invite you to experience it, whether alone or in a community, it doesn’t matter how you wear it; it’s definitely worth the effort!
